15 July: Network meeting at IC2S2

ODISSEI sponsors scientific speed date

The 5th International Conference on Computational Social Science (IC2S2) will be held in Amsterdam from 17 to 20 July 2019. ODISSEI is a sponsor of IC2S2 and will be hosting a ‘scientific speed date’ during Warm-Up on 15 July. Register now and get acquainted with researchers from this emerging field.

Following successful editions in Helsinki (Finland), Evanston (US) and Cologne (Germany), this summer the 5th International Conference on Computational Social Science (IC2S2)will take place in Amsterdam. For four days, a broad group of interdisciplinary researchers will be addressing the themes that concern today’s computational social science.

Computational social science is a relatively young field in which computer science techniques, such as machine learning and text mining, are applied in the social sciences to answer complex research questions. ODISSEI itself is a striking example of an infrastructure for computational social science, with its ability to answer new, cross-disciplinary research questions and investigate existing questions from new angles using a virtual network of large-scale and longitudinal data collections.

IC2S2 is the place to be for computer scientists with an interest in the social sciences and for social scientists with computational ambitions. It offers a unique opportunity for them to meet and create new ideas together. That’s why ODISSEI is happy to sponsor this conference.

On Monday 15 July, during the two-day Warm-Up prior to IC2S2 proper, ODISSEI will be organising a ‘scientific speed date’. Researchers working with the ODISSEI Data Facility (ODF) will also be present at this networking event. Participation is free of charge. This event will take place in Amsterdam. The exact location will be announced soon.

Don’t miss this stimulating opportunity to meet up with interesting researchers from computational social science! You can register here.
