Collaborating when using sensitive data in a secure environment

Bas van der Klaauw (VU Amsterdam)

The CBS microdata environment offers a wide range of possibilities to study interesting policy related questions and has proven its value for society in the past years. Nowadays many researchers use these data and also PhD students use CBS microdata for their research. Researchers are often working in groups with changing compositions on projects and PhD students explore ideas and want to share intermediate results to sharpen their research focus. At the same time the competitive research environment at universities is at odds with the project structure of the CBS microdata.
