From the 8th to the 19th of June 2026, ODISSEI is hosting its fourth summer school at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, as part of the Summer Institutes in Computational Social Science (SICSS) and the Erasmus Graduate School for Social Sciences and Humanities (EGSH). ODISSEI welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and fields of study. About 20 participants will be invited, and participants are required to fully attend and participate in the entire two-week program.
The instructional program will involve lectures, group problem sets, and interactive work sessions. There will also be outside speakers who conduct computational social science research in a variety of settings, such as academia, industry, and government. Topics covered include text as data, website scraping, digital field experiments, and ethics.
During the programme, the participants will master geospatial analysis, machine learning methods, and how to use LLM’s for data collection. They will then apply this toolkit to a wide range of data available through ODISSEI’s infrastructure in collaborative research projects. All materials created by faculty and students for the Summer Institute will be released open source.
